The time is the UTC date and time that is seen by the browser on your computer. These scales will be as accurate as your computer's clock. UTC, Coordinated Universal Time, popularly known as GMT (Greenwich Mean Time), or Zulu time. Local time differs from UTC by the number of offset, + or -, hours of your timezone; for us here in southern California, it is PST and we do observe DST (daylight savings time). GPS, Global Positioning System time, is the atomic time scale implemented by the atomic clocks in the GPS ground control stations and the GPS satellites themselves. GPS time was zero at 0h 6-Jan-1980 and since it is not affected or altered by leap seconds, GPS is now ahead of UTC by Most automotive manufacturers use one of the two presented time display systems for base time intelligence within the navigation systems in their vehicles; most use the one indicated GPS. Both are inherently accurate. The majority of the time (no pun intended), what you see is the very accurately converted display of hours, minutes and seconds, the left most of the boxes of our information. However, on certain screens and readouts dealing with positional navigation, some of this exact information from the other boxes is displayed, usually in a corner of the display. Now you know what it indicates. More information on GPS is available in this GPS Weekly Time Converter. A different methodology and view is available in this International Time Display. This is a real-time display with no user input functions. You may do manual conversions with this BMT and Internet Time Converter. You can also view an International Time Zone Map. This converter requires the use of Javascript enabled and capable browsers. You may also wish to compare GPS to several other time formats at this Multiple Time Display Converter.
